Live your dreams! Travel the world! Find your passion! Monetize it all as an Instagram influencer! Maybe you've been seeing all these happy #vanlife couples and their dogs on your feed for years now and you don't know how to make the leap from ennui-filled follower to inspirational content producer. Maybe spring is just beginning and the #wanderlust is hitting you hard. Maybe you've read the recent climate reports and you just want a chance to see the world's natural beauty once before it all burns down around us. Whatever your problem, I probably can't fix it; but I do have a pretty cool van I could sell you. First things first, this van has a unique paint job. I'm sure you've noticed. It's original work by a couple of world-famous graffiti artists--Atomik, Binho, Guerilla Garden, and Feik. It's definitely an attention grabber, and people will recognize the work and stop you to talk all the time. That's great if you're looking to be the prettiest peacock in the campground at Bonnaroo, probably not your bag if you're trying to stealth camp on a residential street. The interior was converted by me over the course of two years. It's a cozy little two bed, no bath starter home, but it's in a great location. It's not quite professional-grade work, and there are a few things I would do differently a second time around, but it's all solid, researched, and intentional. I'm a design student and I work in construction, so it's not like an ambitious hipster with a glue gun built it, but don't expect dovetail joints and spray-booth finishes. I'd say it's a 95% complete conversion. I had intended to put in some cork floors that I didn't have the time for, so it just has the original plywood right now, and there are a few small bits of trim that could still be buttoned up. I have a folder with its complete 15 year service history. It has very little rust for a Sprinter of its age; every year I have ground out any new rust spots and repainted them. It's a big, graffiti-covered baby boy, and it's been treated as such. "BuT iF YoU lOvE iT sO mUcH WhY dOnT yOu MaRRy iT?" you ask me. For one, it's a van. But also, I recently had to replace the engine, so I need to sell it to pay off that bill. If that doesn't sound great to you, think of it as the peace of mind of an engine with only 115,000 miles and has just been completely inspected by a mechanic and given a clean bill of health. It was up on a lift at the local, very well respected shop for almost a month, and test driven by them for a week to work out the kinks (or that's how they explained the new number on the odometer to me) so there are no mechanical surprises for you to worry about. I'm willing to drive it anywhere in the continental US to deliver it for the price of airfare back to MI, but I'm sure you'll want to pick it up and take that first road trip yourself.
